Frances Farmer was so intelligent, and she wanted something meaningful in her life, and all her mother wanted was for her to be a starlet. Frances Farmer's life really was tragic. I got the feeling the movie producer couldn't decide whether to portray her as crazy or exploited. Although I think being so misunderstood can drive you crazy. I'm sorry you've been through anything similar.
