I'm with Mark and you. Pritz would benefit so much from being able to hear, but, as you indicated, one has to be ready for that. The issues of defenses are problematic because we probably needed them at some point to survive, but there comes a point of diminishing return when they do more harm than good. That point is difficult to recognize, and then we have to learn new behaviors to replace the old! Survival behaviors are so deeply ingrained in us, and they feel so comfortable, one almost has to be ready to do battle to come out the other side (IMHO).BTW, good luck on your exam! Sounds like you have taken an excellent approach to things. I am starting over again in a way also--after a painful experience--and glad I'm not the only 48 year old doing it. Also grateful to have a chance to reflect on the issues I've fooled myself about, and take a good hard look at the pain I've experienced because of it, and how I can move on to some other healthier alternatives.
