I'm not really sure what narcissistic means. Common usage is - self-centered, trying to get attention, selfish. Who isn't some of these some of the time? I've known people for whom these are their predominant personality traits. And I think of these people as narcissists. But I'm not sure they meet the criteria for NPD.

I went through the DSM once trying to figure out where my crazy mother-in-law would fit in. She was big on histrionics. I think there was once an Axis 2 disorder called histrionic personality disorder, but I think they got rid of it or called it something else.
