hi, i'm currently seeing a psychiatrist, who, as an adjunct to his treatment protocol, recommended i attend an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy group program. so far, i have found it useful, but unfortunately, due to the nature of my depression (marked by anergia, concentration and motivational difficulties) i have felt very little drive to engage in the ACT exercises, and i find the group environment to be a little stressful.
at the same time, i have also been privately seeing an OCD therapist who has just recently finished his internship, and thus moved on. the psychiatrist is insisting i forego resuming my OCD work with another intern in favour of participating in a DBT program at his hospital - via group sessions, and in private.
while i don't appreciate his pushiness, i am not writing off the idea of DBT, particularly because my OCD isn't as much of a problem when i'm depressed (simply because i lack the mental energy to engage in ruminations).
but i am curious whether i have much to gain, particularly as far as my OCD goes? or is it more suited to regulating emotion and interpersonal difficulties?
