Dear Rnny,
Hi, I know what you mean about the approach your T is taking. That sort of hard-hearted or "tough love" thing doesn't work for me either. I wish you the best of luck in finding a therapist who is a better match for you.

> I am quitting the current T I am seeing. I have posted here alot of the seemingly small stuff that have been issues but the bottom line is personality wise she is not someone I feel comfortable around. She has been in practice a long time so I am sure she knows her stuff but my experience with her is that she is defensive and argumentative and I simply would never work well with someone who has a personality like that. I have been giving her second chances trying to 'get used to her' and trying to be a "big girl" but this little girl is afraid of the attitude of this T and I need someone with a more tenderhearted approach. We did talk about how I felt about her, kind of intimidated of her but it didn't change anything. She comes across to me as a nasty snob. She probably is just the opposite but what matters is not how the T "really" is but how you experience them. I have two upcoming appts. with new T's to meet. I am so mad my old T retired. Since she retired over a year ago my life has been a living hell. I have not been able to find a T. The T she referred me to had family problems and was always cancelling sessions and then was taking every third week off so I terminated her. She was gone more than she was in the office. And it has been meeting T after T since. I need help on issues. Ugh I wish I could get even with my old T. Why did she have to retire! Grrrrr! (Ex: Old T and I worked for years on how I should relate to my mother and current T is encouraging just the opposite. Not helpful at all.)
