> Elizabeth, I note that your wording left it unclear what your t uses. Are the listed examples terms you _wish_ your therapist used, or does s/he use them? If it's a wish, I understand your wish for something more personal as the ending; I wish for it, too.
My therapist uses a combination of endings which was probably why I was curious as to if this was normal or not. Typically, I think for most of his emails he sends me from his office are signed : "Best, Dr. X" he then i assume because its automatically set up for his work email settings includes at the end of the email: his name, formal title, address, phone number, email, and website
Sometimes, he doesn't end or even start with anything (usually its "Hi" and he's used "I hope this helps' at the end. My favorite is when he says something like "I look forward to seeing you on X" or when he wrote me an informal message about something unrelated to therapy with me, and he used a "smiley face" at the end--that made me happy :)
Anyways, this wasn't a very loaded topic question I posted, I was just curious and appreciate the feedback. The only thing I was suprised to see by some of the responses wass that some people's therapist's used their first names instead of referring to themselves as a title 'Dr X" I couldn't imagine ever calling my therapist by his first name and found that interesting. i also should note whenever I write him, i always start by saying Dear Dr. X:, and used to always sign "Sincerely" but now just sign my first name as i feel more comfortable with being a little more casual, but i still always address him formally.
