I live in a small college town and my T lives here too. After 18 months of therapy, I've seen him around town a handful of times. Once I saw him in the street; he dropped his briefcase. Another time he chased me down in the drugstore, which I found acutely embarassing -- I hadn't seen him, and I was in my own private world when he intruded. Another time I saw him riding his bike; I was in my car and I had to pull over because I was so angry I was afraid I might hit him. A fourth time, I was driving my kid to school and he happened to be on the sidewalk, picking his way over a snowbank, wearing an unflattering hat. The last time I saw him out of context, he was in a car that drove by my house as I was taking out the trash. Whoever was driving must have sensed his discomfort because the car started going slower....and slower.... I had to laugh, that's all there was to do at that point.
