Wow, that's a lot happening really quickly for you. It sounds like a really good thing that you've moved your surgery up, considering the pain that you've been in.

I hope that you are able to keep your job (if you still want it). If you frame it as that you are in a lot of pain, and really need the surgery sooner, it seems like it would not be legal to fire you for that. Have you talked to your HR person yet? I was glad to hear that you were going to do that.

I'm so sorry that your boss has treated you so poorly. That stuff sucks. Work is so important, and controls so much of our lives. I hope this continues to be an opportunity for you to make positive changes in your life. It sounds like so far it has really spurred you to consider your priorities and act on them. I think it's great that you're doing things now to take care of yourself. I think that's a very healthy response to being treated poorly!
