Hey! Congrats on having a good morning. Times like that are really good, you feel right on and ready to face the world, they're nice. Sometimes that all you get though - a morning. I hate that and I'm sorry it happened to you.

Finding the right medicine combo can be a bit like playing drugstore cowboy sometimes. What all have you tried?

I'm settled and quite loyal to Prozac (although I play with the dose) and trazadone for sleep. It's kept me trucking for years. When you hit the right combo for you, it will be like striking gold though. Don't give up hope.

As far as the biology of your illness, well, that seems to be very individualized. And quite frankly, the docs don't even know how you will react to the medicine. So the best they can do right now too (I think) is just try. Unfortunately, we haven't found the magic bullet yet.

Could you try relaxing against your depression and mood swings a little? Just sort of roll with it?

I used to tell myself "Okay right now, I feel like a poopie poptart, but in five minutes I might be as mad as a wet cat and then five minutes after that I just might start banging my head against the floor, I just don't know. Serve it up" And I let the meds work and allowed myself to be a marshmallow for a while.

Sometimes fighting this illness only makes it worse.

No one can predict the future, but this is NOT a hopeless situation.

Stay the course, bug your pdoc and everyone else unabashedly until you get what you want.

I hope you feel better soon.

Maddie
