Yes the book talks about the dialectic between depression and anxiety. Anxiety is saying take action fight or flight something must be done and at the same time depression is saying there is no hope nothing can be done withdraw. And the result is that feeling of paralysis.

Yes very similiar. I haven't read the whole book but it does much the same. It's a little easier to read as it's written as a self help book rather than a manual for a class. And there is less mention of early childhood genesis of the problems. He does include the same things as Linehan suggesting a biosocial cause but he said the invalidating environment could also be within your own self rather than in the outside environment-the tendency to anxiety (action) is invalidating the tendency to depression(passivity). I thought that was an interesting take.

I've also been interested in mindfulness and it is something I want to do with or without therapy.

Thanks for replying and for fixing the link. I criticize myself too-I thought about just not posting since I couldn't do the link right.

Isn't that the perfect acronym! If it's not official it certainly should be :)
