Although there's hope yet

I must admit, my mom can be supportive. I don't know why, but I talked to her the other night about my thoughts about mixing up my feelings about my dad with my FIL's current situation. She listened and gave feedback and validation! And I'm not sure she even spent much time during the phone call talking about herself. It was startling.

I don't know why I told her. I didn't plan on it, and I usually don't talk to her about this stuff because she either doesn't seem to get it, ignores it and changes the subject to her, or goes into problem-solving mode. But now that I think about it, she's been more open and supportive about some of the stuff I've shared with her recently.

Who knew?
