I google people all the time. When I wasn't working, if there was a job I was interested in, I would google the boss or hiring manager or anyone I came in contact with. Before I see ANY doctor, I google them and usually won't go to someone I can't find information on. And I of course google myself and old friends.

I think it is ethical because it is public information. I think where an ethical line can be crossed is how you use the information. If you use it to inform yourself of something, then there is nothing wrong with that. If you use the information to stalk someone...well, you might have a problem with that.

That's my take on it all.
