Hi,
I get regular massages with the same person, so I've been fortunate to develop a strong sense of trust with her. There's one place where I am much more sensitive, and for whatever reason, I get a lot of anxiety when she is working there. I have been comfortable telling her about it, and she is much more careful there.

With a new person, I would imagine the MT would want feedback about how you are feeling and responding. I remember early on my MT would ask if the pressure was too light or too much, and she adjusted based on what I said.

You could also tell the person that you are anxious about this and ask them to go slow. I'm sure they will understand. I'm sure they have dealt with this issue before. And to reiterate what Jen said, you can always stop the session if it doesn't feel safe.

Pedicures or manicures, and maybe facials? (never had one) involve less touch. You might also try those.

Enjoy!
