I read that article a while ago and it is very interesting.
I particularly like the charts - Manifestations of dependency and Countertransference positions in relation to dependency. I am very counter dependent. My therapist, however, is very balanced. If he errs on one side, it is towards the distanced and never the enmeshed.
I guess that's what I was trying to say in the "What I like about my T" thread above. I like that he doesn't want to take care of me.
I think that perhaps it is not so easy all the time for therapists, especially when you are dealing with a patient who has suffered extreme abuse. If they care, it must be hard not to become enmeshed.
Do any of you feel that your Ts are too distanced or too enmeshed?
