It's just a damn *good* rationalization!

(OK, I'm kidding about that. I happen to agree with you, that checking things like that is just giving oneself the same respect we'd give our cats or dogs. You wouldn't take your pets to a vet who hadn't been recommended in some way, would you? I've even told my pdoc that he's being judged against the same standards that apply to my vets. I hope he wasn't insulted, but even if he was -- too bad. I've had the great good fortune of having had some really exceptional veterinarians, and if he can't live up to their standard, well, that's for him to work out.) (The only personal style pictures in his office, by the way, are two pictures of his dog. One is new, which I commented on, and he then drew my attention to the other. Can't say for sure, but I'd say he's a man who might understand and not be insulted. And I've noticed, at times when I mention something like my cat with CRF, his eyes are drawn to one of those two pictures.)

(But vets have a higher standard, with rules that are pretty hard to follow, like:

1. If a symptom or behavior corresponds in time with the addition of a drug, first assume that the drug is the cause of the symptom or behavior.

2. It is very rarely appropriate to prescribe additional medication to treat side effects of any drug.

3. When a drug causes side effects, stop its use.

4. You get the point, right? I don't have to belabor it.)

{{sigh}} Doncha wish we got the same quality of care that our pets do?
