I think the psychoanalytic approach is very helpful- it has been for me, but I am struck by the fact that your T is criticizing and pushing you. Analytic therapists usually do not do that, as they respect a person's need to go at their own pace. By all means, discuss all the things which you have talked about here with him. It sounds as though you are doing an excellent job of free-associating (so hard) and being honest. He does need to listen to you and be more empathic and "with" you as you are expressing your thoughts and feelings. Rather than decide that an analytic approach is not for you, maybe it would be better to focus on the aspects of his approach which seem to be hurting you. Have there been better sessions when things have gone well?
