Dreams are always interesting but there seems to be a huge variation by Therapists about working with the. Irving Yalom writes about dream work in all his books. I know a lot of CBTs don't do dream work unless it is really causing anxiety.
My own experience has been that if I bring a dream up, we'll discuss it and try to figure out if it is important. Some have been. He is especially interested in those that have him in them. He always wants to know how I interpret them, sometimes we agree and sometimes not.
Lately I have two reoccuring dreams. In one I'm being stalked. In the other, I have to save someone having a medical crisis but I get put on hold by 911 (!) That dream continues right into me talking about it in therapy. So I'm dreaming about analyzing the dream. (How do we interpret that?)
It would be interesting to hear how others deal with dreams in their therapy.
