Hi Rhonda,

I'm a member of the dysthymic club, too. Not to mention bulimia and social anxiety.

I'm on Paxil and tranzodone which seem to help, but it doesn't stop the non-stop tape of failures that run through my brain. For me, therapy is helping slow down the tape, I've been therapy a year and while my self esteem is still low, it's slowly getting better. I lucked out and found the right therapist on the first try.

If you are emotionally and financially ready to move to a bigger city it could be very beneficial. What I would do is do some research on the therapists in the city and call a few to talk about you're dysthymia and issues with therapy. I talked to mine for a half hour on the phone before I made the appointment. It's not unusual to audition a therapist.

I hope I helped you.
