Some interesting, some humorous, and some which soft of frighten me, but I don't think that there is anything here really uncivil. Just direct quotes. The first one is the one that really bothered me, as I'm a Pagan / Witch.
1. Religious freedom and tolerance is a protected right. I am committed to the First Amendment principles of religious freedom, tolerance, and diversity.
Whether Mormon, Methodist, Jewish, or Muslim, Americans should be able to participate in their constitutional free exercise of religion.
I do not think witchcraft is a religion, and I do not think it is in any way appropriate for the U.S. military to promote it.2. One of the interesting initiatives we've taken in Washington, D.C., is we've got these vampire-busting devices. A vampire is a -- a cell deal you can plug in the wall to charge your cell phone.
3.I know what I believe. I will continue to articulate what I believe and what I believe -- I believe what I believe is right.4. To those of you who received honors, awards and distinctions, I say, well done. And to the C students, I say to you: you, too, can be president of the United States.
5. We spent a lot of time talking about Africa, as we should. Africa is a nation that suffers from incredible disease.6. It's very important for folks to understand that when there's more trade, there's more commerce.
7. It would be helpful if we opened up ANWR [Arctic National Wildlife Refuge]. I think it's a mistake not to. And I would urge you all to travel up there and take a look at it, and you can make the determination as to how beautiful that country is.
8. You teach a child to read, and he or her will be able to pass a literacy test.9. I appreciate that question because I, in the state of Texas, had heard a lot of discussion about a faith-based initiative eroding the important bridge between church and state.
10. I'm hopeful. I know there is a lot of ambition in Washington, obviously. But I hope the ambitious realize that they are more likely to succeed with success as opposed to failure.11. God told me to strike at al Qaida and I struck them, and then he instructed me to strike at Saddam, which I did, and now I am determined to solve the problem in the Middle East. If you help me I will act, and if not, the elections will come and I will have to focus on them.
