It's a great idea for a web site, I think. I wish I knew anything about running web sites.
Being a non-citizen doesn't mean you can't have opinions. People all over the world have opinions about American politics. You have more rights than most - at least you are from the same continent. And you are exposed to it daily so you don't just see the odd sensational headline.
Court went ok, I guess. It was mainly an appearance because the case got transferred to yet another judge. We had a good feeling when the judge came out with his robe unzipped and no one made us stand. And the prosecutor argued for having the conditions of bail removed - saying the ones from the other judge were extreme {you know judge whatsit, nod nod, wink wink} and said something like 'geez they're just kids.'
Probably the first time my daughter was happy to hear she was 'just a kid.'
We were told before court that the prosecutor wanted to talk about a deal. Of course, my thought was any deal short of an apology and a refund of expenses wasn't good enough, but I wasn't going to tell her that.
Later we found out that she had my daughter confused with the other girl - the one with all the stuff in her room. So whatever that deal was, it wasn't for us. Later we found out from our lawyer the prosecutor is now talking like she might be inclined to just dismiss it.
So things might be looking up. Fingers are firmly crossed.
Approx. 4000USD later and counting.
