I swear by exercising and stretching! When we exercise we build up serotonin and in turn produce more dopamine, both of which are necessary for keeping us calm so that may sleep more restfully. I only mentioned Mirapex because it is used for severe cases of restless leg syndrome. Mirapex works by increasing levels of striatal dopamine. If exercise can do this for less severe cases, it would be a preferred treatment over taking a drug of course.
I would also recommend the both of you finding a Bikram yoga studio near by. While it can be expensive, Bikram Yoga is amazing for many reasons.
St. John's Wort also works on those neurotransmitters that may play a role in restless leg syndrome. If you have a high quality brand and find the right dose, it may help tremendously. Give it some time, it may take up to a few months at the right dose to be effective. SJW is a great herb. It may have antibacterial and immunostimulatory properties as well. SJW, if it works, would be something to consider taking over one's life time.
SJW may help with nerve pain or any sort of pain because it increases levels of norepinephrine through reuptake inhibition. It works the same way on serotonin and dopamine. Cymbalta has been approved for pain and it inhibits the reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine, but not dopamine. It's amazing what we can find in nature that works as well as drugs that were developed after years of research and money.
