Hi again Phillipa!
I also lost sense of smell about 5 yrs ago. The docs didn't exactly know why. My left lung was operated 2004: ca pulmonis. Then i got "sytostaatit" , whatever the cell poisons may be called in english, i really don't care.
But now when the parkinson's began to affect my right arm, i heard that losing sense of smell also is a symptom of that disease.
But after all, i'm alive 4 yrs after the operation. Spring is coming, i can see the nature waking up, feel the warm sunshine on my skin, see flowers blooming and hear the birds singing, i can touch my nearest ones, talk with them, have physical exercise, enjoy culture, drive my car... etc.
and feel allright!
Many people are worse off, unfortunately.
yours Chris
