The amount of excess (or even intended) microwaves transmitted by cellular phones, cordless phones, and wi-fi transmission is down in the milliwatt level.Microwave ovens may cook at 1000 watts, but are inefficient and deliver less than that to the food. They're regulated in the US so that about 2" from the machine, the legal limit is 1 milliwat t / cm2.
Every day we're hit by cosmic radiation, background radiation from ancient granite rocks which give off radon, etc. Not to mention solar exposure which the world has foisted on Australia and New Zealand through CFCs and other compounds.
It's all relative.
