I don't have diabetes, though I've taken zyprexa for a long time. But I'm sure I do have blood sugar problems. I can feel it during the day and my mood can really take a nose dive if there is too much time between meals.
Two things can help. Chromium supplements. I take 350mg a day in two divided doses, may go up as high as 600mg which is the dose used in clinical studies for depression. It somehow stabilizes insulin? Or something like that. Especially good for depressives who crave carbohydrates, like me and donuts. My blood sugar and moods seem smoother with chromium. In small clinical trials, chromium was a good add-on to antidepressants and also worked good by itself.
Another one is glutamine, or l-glutamine, same thing. The body stores it up and uses it in an emergency in place of glucose.
