I personally found that the South Beach Diet aggravated my depression and mood swings. I do seem to be in the minority - most everyone else has done great on it. I do take a supplement called Candex (available from health food stores) that supposedly breaks down the cell walls of Candida Albicans - it sounds like mumbo jumbo but I swear it works!!

And cutting out as many sugars as you possibly can will help starve your body of the thrush,as it loves to feed on it! I was never much of a soda pop swigger but my old alcohol habit took the place nicely. When I stopped drinking the problem with thrush diminished dramatically.
