I've never had this happen where I can't get enough air in me. I've also found that walking up a flight of stairs exhaughts me. What the heck is going on? I don't have asthma.

What you describe sure sounds like asthma to me. You ought to discuss this with a doctor. Having a salbutamol inhaler around could save you a lot of distress.

Asthma can start at any time in the lifespan. Not having it last year, for example, has no bearing on not having it now.

Certain antidepressant drugs can make asthma more likely to appear, probably via nutrient stress. There's a thread over on the Alternative board that get's into natural alternatives for asthma control. KaraS reports good asthma control at 200-300 mg of niacinamide. I have a similar response, but at 500 mg. I probably outweight her two to one, so maybe I just dilute it more. ;-)

Seriously, magnesium supps will reduce the tendency to get that tight chest feeling, and niacinamide is a valid treatment for it. Magnesium at 500 mg/day, niacinamide at up to 500 mg, four times a day.
