How I personally have interpreted "the will of my Father" has come from other verses in the Bible. I interpret "God's will" to mean what God desires for us. And it seems that He wants for us to live forever. One of the verses I have already mentioned in the Old Testament is:

Deuteronomy 30:19,20 “Today, I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! You can make this choice by loving the Lord your God, obeying Him, and committing yourself firmly to Him. This is the key to your life. And if you love and obey the Lord, you will live long in the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”

Some more verses:
Proverbs 8:35 For whoever finds Me finds life and receives favor from the Lord.
11:23 The godly can look forward to a reward, while the wicked can expect only judgment.
14:22 If you plan to do evil, you will be lost; if you plan to do good, you will receive unfailing love and faithfulness.
John 5:24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.”
2 Timothy 3:15-17 You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip His people to do every good work.
Psalm 53:2 God looks down from heaven on the entire human race; He looks to see if anyone is truly wise, if anyone seeks God.
Isaiah 30:18 So the Lord must wait for you to come to Him so He can show you His love and compassion. For the Lord is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for His help.

Most of these verses are from the New Living Translation. I have a file filled with verses that help when I have questions.
