Hi lynn971. I hope I'm not butting into the conversation. I read your post, and just wanted to share my experiences. My family is a very evangelical Christian family. I suffer from bipolar II disorder and have had severe depressions, anxiety, and panic attacks in the past. About 5 years ago I had a difficult episode of mental illness and took a quarter off of school to recuperate. I didn't know very much about mental illness at that time. I thought it was just me and my personal problems. I would pray a lot, but sometimes it just wouldn't get better; I wouldn't feel better. My mother, who is very religious, told me that she thought it may be a demon. That really upset me. After learning a lot about depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder (there is a family, genetic history), on this babble site as well as other sites and books, I learned that there are physical, chemical, and psychological aspects, not just spiritual/religious. I still struggle with my family over this one. I just wanted to share my feelings of pain at being called "demon-possessed" basically. And say that there are other avenues to pursue to find out ways to heal yourself. I'm glad the hormone therapy seems to be working. May I ask what your other symptoms are? Do you have a dx? Are you on other meds? All the best, Lucia
