Well Phillipa,
I am a Christian and I do believe that sometimes, Jesus/God does chose to tangibly reveal Himself to people.I don't care what anyone else says, I know for a fact that TWICE in my life, God Himself directly spoke to me. Once was more a "prophetic" type thing (that did come to pass by the way), the other was a time when I needed comfort and was seeking Him to reveal Himself to me.
There will be some taht will try to convince you it was just your mind or the beer, but go with your gut on this one.
If you had been seeking God for answers, and this happened, it was His way of letting you know HE IS THERE, HE DOES CARE, and He does love you.
Jeremiah 29:12
