Miller,
When I was on The Road, I asked the Rider, who is The word of God in my experiance, "Where am I?" He answerd me and said," You are in The Valley of The Shadow of Death." I thought that He was referring [only] to physical death, for we all have that Shadow hanging over us. But He went on and said to me,"To be carnally minded is Death, and to be spiritually minded is Life and Peace. Whatever is just and good and lovely and true and honest and whatever things that you can praise, think upon those things and the God of Peace shall be with you."
Miller, I began to get away from thinking of spiritual things and was thinking of the things of the flesh mind. You see, I have been describing a War here, it is a Civil War, a War between the carnal mind and the spiritual mind. To overcome is to have the victory in [this] civil war. So I had to retreat from the battle. And I found out that when I reached the City of Peace, the war was over. The Gates opened and I was freed and there were others there rejoicing saying, "free at last, free at last, thank God almighty, I am free at last."
