> (Apart from Brideshead.)No, Guy Crouchback is from the "Sword of Honor" trilogy -- "Men at Arms," "Officers and Gentlemen," and "The End of the Battle." "Put Out More Flags" is Basil Seal, who "stars" in several other books, including "Black Mischief," which is sometimes seen as racist, alas. (I think it's great fun, and so clearly satirical that it probably shouldn't be taken seriously enough for any such accusation.)
For the first taste of Evelyn Waugh, I think I'd offer up his first novel, "Decline and Fall," followed closely by his second -- which includes many of the same characters -- "Vile Bodies." As Poet said to me privately, it really wasn't Agatha Runcible's fault that someone placed a large object in front of her...
They're mostly fun books. "Brideshead Revisited" is a bit maudlin at times, but it's still enjoyable. I named my kitten after the teddy bear.
I hope that you enjoy anything you might choose to read.
