I, too, avoid movies made from books I love, but have seen one or two that were done well enough to satisfy me.

"Ethan Frome" comes to mind -- despite my first reaction to seeing Liam "Slurp" Neeson in the film. By the end of the movie, I was satisfied with his portrayal, and no longer thought he was overdoing it.

Another I thought quite good was "Of Mice And Men" -- although, when the front credits were rolling, my friend and I nearly turned it off when we saw how many times the name "Sinise" came rolling by... Since then, I have discovered that I nearly always like Gary Sinise, and the things he does tend to be quite good. (Although I do not watch CSI: New York. Just not worth it...)

Otherwise, mostly I sit there saying, "But that's not right! That didn't happen that way!" etc. The latest horror I've seen was "A Series of Unfortunate Events" which was an abomination! Yech!
