The Alienist [psychoanalyst]

Posted by Squiggles on September 24, 2002, at 20:57:07

I',m presently reading this paperback,
which i picked up at a rummage sale on
account of its archaic title. It's turning
out to be a very good psychiatric thriller.
The author C. Carr has obviously studied
the history of psychology and it makes
his work very interesting indeed. There
was a give-away with the eyes because i have
read the same stuff - but i won;t let it out
here. For those who would like to read it
i should warn you, that it is a bit ghorry.

There is another book of a totally different
genre that I keep running across on the net
on psychiatric self-help books: by David. D. Burns,
"Feeling Good" - i am wondering if anyone
has read this and what they think of it. It
looks like pop psych. by the man is a dr. and
a psychiatrist i think, so i may be wronging it.
