Are we too unstable for Salinger?

Posted by trouble on March 9, 2002, at 15:11:35

I'd really like to read Catcher in the Rye, but it's been implicated in so many assassinations I'm not sure it would be a positive move. I've read one academic interpretations of the novel's meaning and cultural impact, I know many books have been written about CITR, so no problem if you all feel that subject's been beaten to death. I just think our point-of-view has been absent from the dialogue, all I ever see are disturbed minds and their scholarly interpretations, nothing from a recovering mentally ill perspective.
Anyway, that's my vote for the day!
