Pyroluria could indeed be your problem, but there could be other nutrient deficiencies as well. Consider vitamins like C and E for antioxidant support, minerals like calcium, magnesium, manganese, zinc, and selenium; essential fatty acids like fish oil and evening primrose oil (or borage oil). Consider individual B vitamins like B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9, and B12. I have always had better success with taking individual B vitamins rather than a B-complex supplement because you might have to adjust the dosage of each B and tailor it to your personal needs. This could mean higher dosages of B's than what is included in a B-complex supplement. Sometimes, but not always, certain amino acids are helpful, such as taurine, glycine, glutamine, tyrosine, tryptophan, and phenylalanine. Personally, I had some success with all of these except phenylalanine years ago, but cannot tolerate aminos now. I think the vitamins, minerals, and EFA's are probably the most important. But I will say that B6, zinc picolinate, manganese, and maybe evening primrose oil, are good supplements to start with. Someone told me to keep it as simple as possible. If these supplements work, stick with them and don't add other things unless you feel that you really need them. Explore and be content.
