It didn't poop out on me, per se, but after a while it was giving me a more irregular heartbeat than usual (my heart always goes through periods where it skips beats for a day or an hour, but on SAMe it was nearly constant) and it definitely raised my blood pressure.
Anyway it did stabilize my mood and give me more energy, but it also... well, felt a lot like a noradrenergic antidepressant, in that it flattened out my personality a bit. Gave me motivation at the expense of my sense of humor, etc. I dunno. Combining it with inositol gave me some of the mood-brightening effects I'd been missing, but that made me fuzzy. (Of course, a few weeks on Lamictal put that fuziness in perspective, so I'm giving inositol another go...) If you're on lithium, though, inositol might be counterproductive; lithium lowers free intracellular inositol. On the other hand, it might be irrelevant or even beneficial -- there doesn't seem to be a strong consensus on what having lower levels of free inositol *means*.
Anyway, SAMe did do enough that I want to keep some echo of that effect going. I'm experimenting now with trimethylglycine (TMG). Yes, I am taking plenty of B6, B12 and folic acid along with it!
