Phillipa,
I do not like ssri's although I benefit from a tad of a seratonin boost and 5htp works quickly and well for me much is the same way a ssri does. Since I can take it as needed I avoid the yucky side-effects that ssri's give me.
5htp does make me drowsy.
I don't take it while on EMSAM-I think it is a no-no.
