Yeah, I found that 5-htp helped, upto about 50mg, but If I added tyrosine, it made things worse.
Sometimes the neurotransmitter supply is ok, but it is not getting released due to hypersensitive inhibitory autoreceptors.
I found that 5-htp had much more of an effect when if I took it during exercise.
Coffee too triggers serotonin release. I had a synergistic effect if I mixed 5-htp in my coffee!
A more robust mood effect than either alone.You may also want to try yohimbine with the 5-htp. It blocks the alpha-2 autoreceptors wich allows increases the release of serotonin and norepinephrine. I added a little yohimbine to 5-htp and again there was a definate synergy.
Just like remeron is a alpha-2 antagonist. As far as depression, neither remeron nor 5-htp cut it alone, but the two combined clicked.
