I was prescribed 1000 mg of tryptophan at bedtime by Dr, Eric braverman in NYC which I use with an hour of CES device (cranial electrical stimulation), and I have to say it really makes much of a difference in the way I feel the next morning. My memory is better, I'm more composed and together. My libido has picked up too. If someone's underlying chemical imbalance is serotonin tryptophan will most likely help a lot, depending how deficient you're in 5-HT.
5-HTP does help me too--even more so than tryptophan, as it is a step closer to serotonin iin the pathway.
