hi gg,
vinegar is weak acetic acid, and acid does have the ability to break down other substances (like contaminants.) Acids (in dilute solutions) are the prime components in many common cleaning products.I haven't heard of vinegar baths being scientifically proven to be beneficial for cleansing human skin more effectively than other methods, although that doesn't mean that they AREN'T. Vingegar is a good cleanser in general. I suppose that vinegar might remove 'gunk' or 'junk' without leaving soapy films or residues...???
I DO know that my ob/gyn doesn't think douching is a good idea under normal circs b/c it breaks down useful bacteria and changes body pH (sorry to anyone if that is too much info!) Since vinegar is used in many douche solutions, I'd think about the nature of the vinegar bath and whether it's the right thing for your body.
I'd be very interested in hearing from anyone who has tried it and has feedback! I personally find vingar to be a great carpet spot cleanser for pet messes...very interesting to hear that it might be good for people too.
