I'd start taking some zinc..about 30mg elemental zinc per day for starters.
I wouldn't think showering could bring your levels up too high, although I guess you would probably absorb a small amount.

Does your water stain the basin a bluish-green colour where it drips?
Copper in water is usually due to your pipes into the house, and not normally too severe, and probably preferable to plastic pipes, but I guess in some places the whole area may use old copper piping. If it is just your household plumbing (like from the street in) , then flush the water for a couple of minues before you drink or shower in it ..should take the worst of the problem away ..as it is the water that has been sitting in the pipes for a few hours that contains the most copper.
Also I'd be tempted to confirm the hair test with a blood test, I think, as hair analysis are influenced by the shampoo/conditioner etc you use.
Have you checked if any of the ingredients of these contain copper?..or even get your water tested..unless it obvously looks like it has copper in it...

Also if it IS your own plumbing that is at fault..check your lead level too as the soldering of the copper pipes is usually done with lead solder..and this will dissolve as readily as copper.

You can probably find a lot of stuff on google..he's a url for starters
