I guess my experiences on second life and twitter are quite different from that of others, but I've found a lot of good things in both. As a participant in both, I personally feel a bit put-down by the comments made about users and their motives and attitudes-- they certainly aren't mine as a user.

I'm not putting down Twitter or the people who participate in it. I just don't know enough about it. Why should I take a chance on something unknown to me if I don't have to? My ignorance prevents me from trusting. There is very little stigma associated with audiophiles or numismatists. The other thing is the concern that taking my words out of context is a form of editing, something I don't appreciate. For some odd reason, I trust the doctor not to go out of his way to twist my words purposely. However, even he cannot always understand my meanings well enough to know what to excerpt and what to ignore.
I just don't know. And right now, I don't have the time or energy to invest in educating myself about Twitter.
Your endorsement does capture my interest, though.
