I personally am dismayed and feel really out of place on this site after reading this thread. I guess my experiences on second life and twitter are quite different from that of others, but I've found a lot of good things in both. As a participant in both, I personally feel a bit put-down by the comments made about users and their motives and attitudes-- they certainly aren't mine as a user.
It's kind of as if no one here thinks there can be value in these places-- or that the people who go there are looking for and able to offer one another something meaningful. Which is not my experience at all.
