I guess people break rules for a myriad of reasons. I have a relative (she has spent some time in prison, incidentally) who will break pretty much any rule that isn't convenient for her at the moment. In her case, I think she lacks maturity and any concept of how we often must do things for the "greater good," even when we'd rather not.

Then, there are people who break the rules because they're bad rules. Rosa Parks is one brave soul who comes to mind. I am not a brave soul. I'm one who'll follow the "bad" rules for fear of what might happen if I don't. Sometimes I wish I were different....a trailblazer or some such. It just isn't in my nature, though.

Of course, I'm sure there are other reasons people knowingly break rules. These are just a couple that came to my mind when I read your question. I'm glad you asked it! Anyone else have ideas?
