Actually, if you said anything at all that suggested you were suicidal and/or might hurt somebody else, he may have been ethically required to do something about it.
As far as the police getting involved, that's probably standard operating procedure in such cases in Belgium. It certainly is here in the states.
Besides, what's wrong with trying to help?
Hope I didn't overstep myself here. I know that for myself, whenever I suggested suicide, the people treating me became VERY proactive.
I'm not thinking that way now, BTW.
