I think you bring up a good point, and one that was missed in my original post. What is civility? What may be civil to some, may not be civil to others. And I think that is why it takes work.
I have a tendency to just make blanket generalizations, although I will admit most of the blocks and PBCs are clearly warranted.
And yes, it should be about self-control and respect, always.
