I've been through a similar experience myself, only with men.

And one thing I noticed was how strong people's "six sense" really is. Even if, with all of our hearts, we want to reach out and be loved and accepted by the opposite sex, if there is anger, hurt or sadness getting in the way people sense it and shy away.

We, without knowing it, can project a strong signal of "stay away".

I hope you are in therapy and are spending time on your own heart and healing it. As your heart grows and opens up to love, people will feel a lot more comfortable "smiling back".

I don't know your story, but my guess is, there is a very sad person there. But I know there is someone there that deserves to be loved. Take care of yourself.
