Yes, many people here are very generous with their time and help, and it's great that they are.

I just think it's important not to confuse "asking for assistance" with "attempting to completely offload responsibility and asking someone else to be the gatekeeper for one's own actions." (Even if it's asked in a sort of lighthearted way, I think it can still imply that there is something deeper to it.)

I worry that somebody might try to take it on, and would only disappoint themselves and the asker, because it's an impossible task.

I also think it's a good idea for people not to ask for more help than could reasonably be offered by an internet buddy, because it sets them up for disappointment when it can't be given. :)


But I definitely wasn't trying to say that nobody should ask for help, or give it. Just that some kinds of help just can't be provided.
