Why, of course. Especially for you :-)
It has to do with what happens when you check the box to receive notifications when new posts are made to a thread you're following.
Now (with the thread # included), the subject line of the automated email I get looks like this:
"New post to Psycho-Babble Administration thread 5509"
I don't even have to open the email, because I know thread #5509 (for example)is the one at the top of Admin about the Chicago get-together.
Before, you'd know what board only in the subject, and get a snip of the title of the post in the body of the email.
One problem was that it was hard to tell whether it was a new post to me, as often the subject of a thread stays the same, post after post. So I'd click over to the board to find I'd already read that "new" post.
Second problem - if you follow more than one thread on a board, the number in the subject line separates them, so you don't have to open the email at all if, say, you know you've just read that thread, or aren't interested at the time.
Clear as a muddy pond, no doubt, but it's the thought that counts, I hope....
