AKC,
people are much more sensitive to the style (or tone) of the post than to its contents.
when they hear your personal story, they respond more or less with the same. if you seek simple yes/no answers, ask simple, technical questions. otherwise, you story sounds more interesting, and stands out more than your question per se.
